Bristol Yacht Components installs new carbon fibre stair system on Independence II
Bristol Yacht Components have installed their new carbon fibre stair system, the company’s premier product line from August, on motoryacht Independence II.…
The stairs, available in 4-step to 14-step systems, include large, self-levelling steps, actuated by a single, reinforced carbon fibre centre spar, and positive angle pivoting to prevent damage to both stairs and vessel. Its unique pentagonal side spars resist flexion and increase safety, alongside the custom inlaid teak stair treads for water-resistant and non-skid flooring, while their polished 316L stainless steel handrails leave the product 'aesthetically pleasing'.

Todd Schenk, President of BYC, announced their current tag line: “Engineering as art. Form with function.” He said their goal “was to blend engineering and design into a state-of-the-art access system that could be easily deployed.”
Three months after the product’s introduction, the Bristol Boarding Stairs were installed on the 32.92 motoryacht, Independence II. The 1993 yacht, owned by Jon Manafort, was recently fitted with the 7-step stair system.
Matt Braisted, captain of Independence II, commented, “The Bristol Boarding Stairs are a nice upgrade to the yacht. Everyone appreciates their light weight, easy handling and sturdy footing, and they look great. Todd [Schenk, BYC President] and his team have done an excellent job with this product.”
