An inflatable island is in build using material matching that of the balloon Richard Branson made his round-the-world hot air balloon voyage in.
Superyacht Tenders and Toys is undertaking the project, which is based on its new sea cabana model. In addition to the owner's request for the Branson balloon material, the company has fitted other luxurious extras to standard features. These include two ice chests to keep drinks cold, underwater lighting and specific colours requested for the outer shell of the island. These complement the standard features, such as sea pool to keep out jellyfish and lounging area.
Josh Richardson, director at Superyacht Tenders and Toys, said the bespoke island concept has seen increased take up in the last six months in the hotel industry. Designers in the superyacht market have followed the trend and brought the model to the yacht market, adding bespoke features such as removable teak decking.
“This is a very new product which is just being released to the yachting community and the interest is high,” said Richardson.
“It seems to fill the gap of the yacht not being able to get close to shore where people can swim, and somewhere that people can lounge around and relax in peace away from the generator noise of their yachts!”
The ‘ultimate in luxury’ sea cabana, which comes in two sizes: medium (4m by 5.25m) or large (4m by 7m) can accommodate up to 20 passengers. It can be inflated in 15 minutes, towed at low speeds behind a tender and anchored separately from a yacht.
Build time is approximately four weeks, depending upon customization and current orders.
