UK, London. In April 2015 two heritage Italian interior design studios, Boffi and De Padova, merged. The brands will maintain their own identities, but function as an amalgamated business, one that now covers all aspects of interior design, from bathrooms to beds and storage systems, kitchens to upholstery and furniture. During this year’s London Design Festival De Padova will be debuting its wares in the UK at Boffi’s London showroom.

Boffi, the luxury kitchen and bathroom brand, has acquired 100 per cent of De Padova, the iconic furniture design company. Luca De Padova, owner of De Padova, has acquired 7.5 per cent equity in Boffi, becoming its second largest shareholder as well as becoming president and vice president of De Padova and Boffi respectively.

“Over the past few years I had been courting Luca, convinced that the union of our two companies would create something extraordinary in terms of quality standards and product range, across a worldwide network of dedicated showrooms with each company’s strong brand identities and overall product quality helping both companies grow internationally,” explained Roberto Gavazzi, CEO of Boffi and De Padova.

“The alliance with De Padova is an important example of how two Italian companies are able to take on new global challenges together by creating an ambitious project of growth in a stable balance of resources and skills.”

De Padova was founded in the 1950s by Fernando and Maddalena De Padova and became the first studio of its kind by introducing the traditionally introvert Italian design community to northern European style.

As part of this year’s London Design Festival the Boffi showroom will play host to the De Padova collection. The collection will include classics designed by Vico Magistretti, who has collaborated with De Padova since the 1970s, as well as a number of newer designs highlighted by Philippe Nigro’s Albereta chair.

During the UK launch, Gavazzi explained: “We’re thrilled that De Padova has joined the Boffi Group, and we are looking forward to continuing the tremendous legacy of the De Padova brand, which is perfectly aligned with Boffi’s high standards and standout aesthetics.”
