The Adriatic destination?

We analyse Porto Montenegro’s position within Adriatic and Mediterranean cruising destinations…

Montenegro, which translates as ‘Black Mountain’, got its name from the mountain forests that were so dense and thick they looked black to outside observers. The Balkan country offers dramatic landscapes with a diverse range of activities on offer to visitors. From swimming on the Adriatic coast to skiing in the surrounding mountains, it has plenty to offer to superyacht owners looking for a new destination to discover.

Since its opening in 2009, the port, which is located on the shore of UNESCO-protected Boka Bay, has received significant rounds of investment and development and is now a key player within the superyacht industry as one of the first ‘destination’ marinas. Furthermore, Porto Montenegro’s senior PR manager, Danilo Kelezic suggests that as much as €500million is intended to be invested into the marina over the next 15 years, creating even more facilities and allowing it to establish itself as the premier destination on the Adriatic’s east coast. The Porto Montenegro Marina already has 450 berths that can accommodate yachts up to 243m and the Yacht Club boasts a 60m infinity pool with ample lounge space and even an outdoor theatre.

As the port investigates further development plans, we are asking stakeholders from across the industry spectrum for their perception of the port as a yachting destination, by completing a short survey. The data collected through this process will help to mould the marina’s future development direction.

The survey will not take long to complete and, upon completion, each participant will receive a complimentary 6-month subscription to The Superyacht Report, as well as being entered into a prize draw to win an iPad.

The link to the survey can be found here.
