VBH appoints permanent director

Van Berge Henegouwen has announced the appointment of Michiel Haverkorn van Rijsewijkas the new company director. He will replace interim director, André Meijer. …

Dutch AV/IT integrator and Royal Dutch Imtech subsidiary, Van Berge Henegouwen (VBH) has announced the appointment of Michiel Haverkorn van Rijsewijk as the company's new director. He will take up his role on 5 January 2015.

Haverkorn van Rijsewijk will take over from André Meijer, Managing Director of Imtech Marine, who has been managing the company on an interim basis following a change in personnel in the summer.

The new director brings with him a wealth of technological expertise, having studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Delft, before founding his own ICT company, Corngroup B.V, in 1989. And in 1992 he also launched one of the first Internet Service Providers in the Netherlands.

After selling his business in 1999, Haverkorn van Rijsewijk started his career with the technology multinational Philips, working in various global business leadership roles; launching new businesses in Asia, the US and Europe and boosting profit margins for mature businesses. In 2008 he was appointed Vice President and CEO for Philips Lighting Middle East & Africa.

In 2012, he joined the Executive Team of Ecofys as director for the Renewable Energy division.

In what the company has acknowledged as a challenging climate, as the AV/IT marketplace becomes increasingly competitive, the company has welcomed the addition of Haverkorn van Rijsewijk. In a statement issued to the media, the company said, 'With his background as an entrepreneur and his experience in commercial leadership, strategic and international business development and business transformation, the board of VBH is confident that Michiel will be a valuable addition to the team, and the right person to lead VBH to further growth.'

Michiel says that he is, "thrilled with the opportunity to lead VBH in the next chapter of sustainable growth. I recognise great potential to accelerate the path of continued success together with our partners. From a more personal perspective, I have a great passion for yachting myself and also a strong interest in high-tech innovations in the areas of entertainment, connectivity and design."
