The Superyacht Intelligence Agency is in the final stages of composing The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2016, which will be published next month.

The composition of this year’s new build market tome has been meticulous, and the attention to detail from our dedicated team of researchers and analysts this year, has been unprecedented.

Historically, when the industry has ruminated on the state of the market, launches masquerading as orders because they are yet to be delivered, and orders placed by dealers on the basis they are sold within a timeframe, have served to distort its true status.

We are confident this year however, that the methodology we have employed will produce the most accurate appraisal of the superyacht new build market to date, both of its current state, and as a forecast of its future performance.

‘Performance’ lies at the hear of this year’s Annual Report. We have introduced a ranking system of the top 50 shipyards based on their activity over the last five years, using this data to identify the robust sectors of the market and the future opportunities for growth, both in geographical and size terms.

Data amassed over previous reports has been carefully refined and reviewed. Every shipyard appearing in this year’s rankings has been contacted to have their historical fleets confirmed. Every shipyard appearing in this year’s report has also verified its order book and recent deliveries.

Furthermore, all of the design studios responsible for yachts delivered in 2015 and yachts listed in the global order book, have also verified the legitimacy of the data.

While all of this additional work may mean that the retrospective figures appearing in this year’s publication differ to those of previous years, readers can be assured that The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2016 provides the most accurate picture of the state of the superyacht new build market, and crucially, offers the most realistic forecast for the future trajectory of superyacht building.
