Following its entry into the superyacht industry as a management company 10 months ago, Svitzer has opened an office dedicated to servicing the sector in Monaco.

Stephen Birt will assume the role of General Manager at the new location and said:

“It has been a busy 10 months for this new business and the team at Svitzer. We have been shaping our offering to the Superyacht market and concentrating on ensuring the team is fully aligned for this new area of marine services. With this new office and a permanent presence in the heart of the Superyacht world, we are aiming to expand the business and be in a position to extend our existing networks in the Mediterranean. We differentiate from the bigger players in this market by offering support and management services only. We strongly believe there is room in the market for a specialist like Svitzer to offer Owners better through life value, and Captains higher levels of support for the bigger and busier Superyachts now coming into the market.

“We are a large, global company, with operations in over 40 countries. We are also proud of our rich heritage in the marine industry, which stretches back to 1833. It made sense that if we aim to grow the superyacht side of the business, we should position ourselves in the heart of the sector.

"The office will operate as a sales and marketing focus for the business, with the various technical, compliance, and administrative functions operating in more ‘practical’ locations – The UK, and US for example.

"We strongly believe there is a desire for more ‘practical’ and value driven management solutions, that take perhaps a slightly more ‘commercial’ approach to the issues the industry faces. This structure very much falls in line with that approach.”
