A fire has broken out at one of the Sunreef Shipyard sheds in Gdansk, Poland the yard has confirmed.

The fire destroyed an assembly hall which housed four yachts in build - two that had just started, and two that were in an advanced stage of construction; three 70' and one 60', all catamarans.

Patrick Raub, director of sales for western Europe told SuperyachtNews.com by phone this morning that the fire had broken out after working hours and that no one had been hurt in the blaze. The cause and extent of the fire is under investigation.

“They’re cleaning the yard now,” Raub said. “I’m going to the yard tomorrow. We’re moving production to another shed, beginning next week, we’ll start molding again.”

“We’ve lost a couple of molds, but not all of them: The most important ones were saved,” Ewa Stachurska, the yard’s media manager said by phone from Gdansk.

“We are not closing,” Stachurska said. “We have projects in development. There will be delays, but we’re starting tomorrow on reconstruction. Our order book is full until the end of August.”

“We’ve been receiving calls and emails of support from our present clients and owners around the world. We are being as positive as we can be in this horrible situation.”
