Financial yacht services provider SOS Yachting will be opening its Spanish office on Friday 11 April, 2013, in Barcelona, dedicated to providing VAT services to commercial superyachts chartering in Spanish waters. Legal counsel and guidance will be provided to the SOS Yachting Barcelona office by Palma de Mallorca-based maritime lawyer León von Ondarza, a specialist in maritime law applied to the yachting industry.
In 2013, following a successful season, SOS Yachting in association with Thierry Voisin opened SOS Yachting France in Nice, and with a fleet of over 200 yachts this next step is a strong indicator of the financial provider's growing presence in the yachting industry. Moreover, the company's expansion to Spain will be a timely help to those having to comply with seemingly ever-changing and increasingly complex Spanish charter regulations.
Alessandro Mazzoni, chief executive officer of SOS Yachting, explained: "Our challenge is to ensure that wherever our clients wish to charter, they can do so with the knowledge that we are providing them with accurate and timely solutions, and ensuring that their vacation is stress free. SOS Yachting is unique in the industry, since we understand the requirements of large commercial yachts with demanding schedules, and provide tailor-made assistance to support their charter plans. And, we are available 24/7 during the season.
"We are very excited about our new operation in Spain. On account of the limitations imposed by past Spanish regulations, compared to most of the Western Med Spain is still unspoiled," concluded Mazzoni, "and we look forward to a busy season assisting yachts chartering in this stunning area."
Both Alessandro Mazzoni and Thierry Voisin will be attending the Superyacht Management Meeting (SMM): Fiscal in Monaco on 15 April, 2014 (the latter of whom spoke at the 2013 event) where Spain's fiscal position will be discussed in the day's breakout sessions. The event is sold out but there is a waiting list should a spare spot open up. Further details on this year's programme, including transcripts following the event can be found on the website here. Should you wish to secure your place at any of the other events on offer this year, please do not miss your chance and get in touch with Suzie on suzie@thesuperyachtgroup.com or call her on +44 207 801 1014.
