With an increasing number of industries realising the advantages of LEDs over traditional lighting methods, it will not be long before most, if not all, lights used on yachts are LED. LED lighting plans are faster to install, require lower spec equipment and are significantly more energy efficient, cost effective and long-lasting. One of several companies helping to lead the way in LED lighting is Hella Marine, who have just released Sea Hawk LED Deck Floodlights.
Hardwearing, compact and energy-saving (they consume less than 3W of power), these new lamps use advanced, precision optics to provide 240 lumens of powerful, crisp and clean white light. The Sea Hawk LED Deck Floodlights can be used onboard for interior and exterior spaces and come in two models. The spread lamp, with its close-range, wide spread of light, is ideal for illuminating cockpits, lockers and transom areas; while the narrower, more concentrated light of the spot lamp works for spreader, foredeck and docking purposes.
Designed and manufactured in New Zealand with marine-grade materials, the advanced Sea Hawk LED Deck Floodlights are available in black or white. Featuring a heavy-duty, polyamide optical nylon lens for greater strength and impact resistance; strong, polymer housing for UV, shock and vibration resistance; and 2.5m of tinned, twin-core marine cable, each lamp weighs only 250 grams. The low-maintenance lamps have no bulbs to break or change and are completely-sealed to IP 67 standards and pre-wired. Easy to install, they come with an attractive, highly-polished 316 stainless steel mounting bracket that secures the lamp body from both sides. An innovative fastening design allows for easy adjustment of the vertical light beam angle by hand. Each lamp measures 136mm L x 53mm H x 49mm D, including bracket.
