Savannah Yacht Center set for 2017 transformation

Georgia's Savannah Yacht Center is entering its final phase of development as it prepares to open in 2017.…

The development of eagerly anticipated refit site, Savannah Yacht Center, is continuing apace and is on track for its planned opening in Q1 of 2017.

According to vice president, Jim Berulis its 140 x 21m dry dock will be ready to receive superyachts in February with its syncrolift operative by the third quarter.

The latter will be able to haul yachts of approximately 80m out of the water, and there is enough space on the hard to work on six yachts of 80m simultaneously.

As Berulis explained, in conversation with SuperyachtNews at the Monaco Yacht Show, "I was told, 'build it and they will come', and there is nowhere quite like it on the East Coast for really big boats."

Berulis also confirmed that Pinmar is to establish a permanent base at the shipyard, under its Pinmar USA subsidiary. The world-renowed applicator will be able to provide painting services and support to visiting vessels from within the facility.
