Sanlorenzo appoints Fulvio Dodich as its new CEO
Sanlorenzo's chairman, Massimo Perotti has announced the appointment of Fulvio Dodich as the yachtbuilder's new CEO. Dodich, who has held the position at several Italian yards, has been tasked with expanding the yard's presence still further in emerging markets.…
“I have known Massimo Perotti for 18 years and we have always held each other in high regard, even as competitors. That is the reason why I accepted this new challenge as partner and CEO with enthusiasm; I think that together we can achieve great results.
“Sanlorenzo already has an excellent team of managers, and it definitely is one of the three leading shipyards in the yachting industry, but I am sure it also has a lot of potential.”
This ‘potential’ should not be underestimated. According to figures published in The Superyacht Intelligence Global Order Book 2013 Sanlorenzo has more superyachts of 30-40m in build than any other shipyard (19), an enviable position in such a competitive sector of the market. Even more impressive is that their order book is nearly double that of its nearest rival.
The competition at the lower end of the LOA spectrum encouraged Perotti to recruit Dodich. “I am very glad that Fulvio Dodich accepted the offer”, Perotti explained. “He is one of the few managers I have always appreciated – for his determination, sales vision and strategic qualities shown in recent years. I am optimistic and I consider his arrival as an opportunity to strengthen and improve during this delicate time.”
Perotti has placed expansion at the heart of his plans for the yard and, upon his appointment, Dodich emphasised his intention to pursue an “aggressive” line. This will involve, “the creation of new models and the simultaneous strengthening and enlargement of the dealer network that will bring Sanlorenzo successful new market penetration.” No doubt, Dodich intends to build on Sanlorenzo’s rapidly growing dealership network, which is most visible in Asia, where there is a heavier inclination towards smaller semi-custom superyachts.
However, he added that there would be a new focus from Sanlorenzo on the “client”. “This is a big challenge”, Dodich said, “but without big challenges there is no zest for life.”
Dodic first entered the yacht market in 1996 and has held CEO positions at Ferretti Yachts, Mochi Craft and Custom Line. He was appointed managing director of Ferretti Spa in 2006, but left a year later to pursue a role as a M&A consultant.
