Lindenau Werft will not branch into superyacht refit

Lindenau Werft will not be undertaking any superyacht refit work, despite its acquisition by the Privinvest Group. The commercial repair facility joins 'sister' yards, Nobiskrug and ADM Kiel under Lebanese-based Privinvest's control.…

The Privinvest Group, a significant stakeholder in the Abu Dhabi MAR conglomerate, has unveiled its plans for the Lindenau Werft shipyard, which it acquired in December 2012.

Privinvest says Lindenau will continue to provide its commercial refit and repair services, and will not be diversifying its offering into yachting. However, the yard will now be able to offer accommodation for any overflow of work that could arise at Privinvest’s other facilities, Nobiskrug and ADM Kiel.

Speaking to Superyachtnews.com Nobiskrug’s head of marketing, Denise Hein said that whilst, Lindenau will provide commercial refit work, Nobiskrug will continue to operate exclusively in superyacht construction and refit, whilst ADM Kiel will offer both services.

“Lindenau is completely independent and will remain in the commercial sector. It is simply a cooperative agreement; Lindenau offers more docking and pier facilities, in case a client requires instant access to the open sea”, Hein said.

“We can still offer the option to build yachts up to 400m because of the ADM Kiel facility. It’s just a synergy, and Lindenau will retain its own clients away from superyachting.”
