Picchio Boat

ITALY, Parma. The Picchio Boat is a new 21.7m catamaran concept by designer Christian Grande, which is based on the marriage between the environment and the idea of a recreational island orientated around family and relaxation.

“Picchio provides the freedom to enjoy the journey and its stopovers,” says Gianluca Poerio from Sand People Communication. “This is a catamaran that becomes a nest and a cradle, a reading room, a veranda, a personal island from which to contemplate and appreciate unique landscapes.”

With a cruising speed of 12 knots, Picchio has been created to allow plenty of natural light to penetrate into the interior. It includes a dedicated tender with an interior that imitates the colour and theme of the mothership. The toys don’t end there as Picchio was created with its own bespoke accessories, called Picchio Extra, designed to make the boating experience more enjoyable and personalised.

The series of accessories begins with the most prominent feature of the boat, the bicycle. Foldable and compact, the bicycle created by ItaliaVeloce features a Brooks saddle and hand-made anodized aluminium wheels and teak handle bar. The Picchio Extra range also includes a new series of suitcases and travel bags made from fine leathers and ropes with natural tones that mirror the boats interior.
