Nick Maris steps down at Camper & Nicholsons Marinas
The Board of Camper & Nicholsons Marina Investments (CNMI) have given notice to Nick Maris to relinquish positions including Director of the Company and Chairman and CEO of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas.…
“Nick leaves his roles with our greatest thanks for his leadership and tireless efforts in bringing the Camper & Nicholsons Marinas business to where it is today and the team looks forward to his continued guidance,” commented James Beaver, Chief Operating Officer.
Nick Maris said: “The C&N management team is world leading. The team has delivered and continues to deliver outstanding results for their clients. I have every confidence in the continued success of the worldwide network of C&N Marinas which stretches from the Caribbean to China.”
Group Chairman, Sir Christopher Lewinton will perform an overseeing role during the transition phase, which does not include immediate plans to find a new CEO. He will be supported by finance director, David Johnson and commercial & legal director, Phil Ladmore, enabling the Board to effectively monitor the performance of the business.
Sir Lewinton said: “The Board would like to thank Nick Maris for his important contribution to building this Company and completing the development phase of the business."
"I now anticipate working with Nick to develop a new role which will fit with his skills and wide experience in the marina industry and anticipate that we will develop a position for Nick that will enable him to continue to contribute to the growth of the Company,” he continued.
Nick Maris has worked at Camper & Nicholsons for over thirty years, joining first as the Group's investor and non-executive director in 1981, before assuming roles including Chairman of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas International Limited in 1983.
CNM has grown considerably under his leadership, with announcements as recent as this week testifying to the management arm's strong performance.
On 20 November a raft of positive updates released to London's Alternative Investment Market where the company trades under the ticker, CNMI included a third major Marina Service Agreement for the second half of 2012 for Greek marina, Ermioni Marina. The five star marina will be complete in 2014 and will have 28 superyacht berths amongst its 125 berths. The contracts build on a momentum of revenue which has seen the first half of the year generate €800,000, double the same period in 2011.
In the same update the company announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the sale of a superyacht berth with a value of €3.1million at Grand Harbour Marina in Malta, CNMI's 79.2% owned subsidiary.
Mr. Maris hands operating responsibility to senior members of the existing team: Chief Operating Officer, James Beaver, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Bill Green, Sales & Marketing Director Kurt Fraser, and Finance Director Operations, David Mead.
