New Scorpion RIBs facility creates potential for increased production
Scorpion RIBs has opened a new facility at Lymington, UK. The new, larger space will provide the potential to increase production in response to an increase seen in export demand.…
The move consolidates all elements of Scorpion production from four different sites into one streamlined, modern facility. The research and design team, laminators, tube makers and finishers are all now based in one facility at Lymington.
The company has seen an increase in export demand of its products, and is focused on developing export markets. The new facility will create the potential to double production to nearly 50 boats a year.
“Scorpion’s Ampress facility will allow us to expand and develop these [export] markets more efficiently. We anticipate increasing our workforce by 10% following the move to cope with our export order book.” commented Managing Director, Patrick Byrne.
He elaborated: “We have invested in our design and development team, our marketing activity, staff training (introducing an apprentice scheme), and are now streamlining our production at Ampress Park. We have a global outlook on marketing and are constantly developing export markets to continue strong sales of our boats.”

Scorpion has already expanded its sales worldwide and aims to export 70% of its production.
Scorpion is also focused on three bespoke tender projects for superyacht owners, which are currently in construction. Ranging from 8.1m to 8.8m, the owners have selected the models for the “outstanding ride and the real fun of driving them.”
The models are customized versions of production models featuring unique colours and non standard lengths, Scorpion/Ullman suspension seats and below deck adjustments to suit towing and lifting points, suitable for their storage on board. They range in power from 250hp 183.87kw to 441.3kw.
