'Nataly' is first CISR yacht to attain MLC compliance
65m Benetti motoryacht 'Nataly' has become the first yacht registered under the Cayman Islands flag to receive MLC compliance.…
Nataly was prepared for her MLC compliance by Inserve yachts in Southampton, who worked closely with her captain. Her inspection was completed on 6th March 2013 by Cayman Islands inspectors.
She now complies with all MLC regulatory requirements, including crew contracts of employment and crew insurance. The safety management system was updated to meet the additional MLC requirement and some changes to physical elements of operations on board were also made.
“We are pleased to have played such an influential role in ensuring that Nataly has met the requirements of the MLC. Working towards this goal our team have used their knowledge of the industry and adapted their skills to embrace the new Convention,” said Jon Gray, director of Inserve Yachts.
Carlo Summonti, Captain of Nataly, who in fact features in our Captains' Comments in Issue 63 of The Crew Report, added, “Inserve Yachts worked extremely closely with us during the preparations for Nataly’s compliance inspection. Their experience shone through in their work and allowed them to tackle the challenges head on. We are delighted that Nataly is the first Cayman Islands yacht to become MLC compliant.”
The Cayman Islands is part of the Red Ensign Group of flags. Red Ensign Group territories must enact appropriate legislation implementing the MLC in accordance with UK policy before the UK extends ratification, said an MCA spokesperson earlier this month.
The MLC will be discussed in Palma at Superyacht Management Meetings: MLC, Careers & Recruitment on 25 April. To register or for more information please email Suzie, call a member of the Events team on +44 (0)207 924 4004 or click here to register online.
