MTU and MB'92 enter into agreement
The engine manufacturer, MTU has announced that it has entered into an operational agreement with Marina Barcelona 92. The agreement will see the Spanish refit yard undertaking work on MTU engines aboard visiting superyachts.…
Commenting on the agreement a spokesperson for MTU said:
"MTU is intensifying its cooperation with refit shipyards like MB92 to provide first level support on-site with a proactive service and assistance as well as a close link to captains and chief engineers for fast assessment of a yacht's propulsion system. In Spain, Barcelona is MTU’s hub for yacht service, especially for superyachts."
MB92 is currently the subject of a large-scale expansion, which will eventually see its capacity grow to a total surface of 76,000 square metres. Apart from buildings, workshops and repair docks, new facilities will incorporate a new float docking repair area for four yachts up to 200m in length, a dry dock for yachts up to 210m and an additional Syncrolift with a total capacity of 4,000 tonnes. The work is due to be completed at the end of 2013.
