Mother of pearl

The mother of pearl specialist ZANIN Luxury Coverings, has revealed images of its latest project onboard Overmarine’s Rush, the fifth hull of the Mangusta 165 series, launched earlier this year. The superyacht, which is just shy of 50 metres, was built at Overmarine’s yard in Viareggio, Italy.

As part of the interior design by Rome-based Studio Vafiadis, each of the suites onboard incorporate the mother of pearl finish provided by ZANIN. “Our mother of pearl covering has been installed in the owner’s suite (black mother of pearl on the bedside drawers) and in some of the guest suites (violet mother of pearl panel and drawers)”, explains Lara Barzoni of ZANIN Luxury Coverings. The intricate work took just over a month to complete due to the curved surface of the drawers and the demand for high quality and workmanship. The process of production included cleaning, flaking and the attachment of the shells to the wooden back of the furniture and the paint finish.

Founded in 2004 by Marco Zanin, the Venice-based specialist has produced exclusive interior coverings for shipyards and design studios globally, including custom work on private cars and jets. Other projects that the team has worked on include Cantieri Navali Lavagna’s 54-metre Sea Force One, Cantieri Navali Codecasa Tre’s 51-metre Emelina and MMGI’s 44-metre H2OME to mention just a few.
