Marina expansion for Australia’s super rich
Eight new beths have been built at a marina on the Sovereign Islands, a wealthy community on Australia's Gold Coast...…
Eight new berths have been added to the Islands’ marina, each ranging between 27.5m and 30m.
Built by Superior Jetties for Lewis Land, Sovereign Islands’ owner and development group, the berths are being put to immediate use by local brokerage firm, Grant Torrens International Marine, which specialises in yachts up to 36m. The firm will host the islands’ Grant Torrens International Marine Brokerage and Lifestyle Show on 24 May and the expansion will mean more of its larger yachts can be shown.
John Hogan, CEO of Superior Jetties said:
“Queensland, and Australia more broadly, is seeing quite an increase in large luxury vessels and superyachts, both visiting and on the market.”
“With more large vessels being manufactured, imported and visiting it’s important to have suitable berthing facilities… they must be world class.”
Sovereign Island has over 700 luxury and exclusive houses, including until recently, the home of one of the Gold Coast's richest men, Michael Issakidis. The tycoon was extradited to Sydney in April on charges of running a $67 million tax evasion and money laundering scheme and his assets have now been seized including the Sovereign Island waterfront home he owned.
