A new superyacht marina, bringing a luxury Riviera experience to the niche destination of Montenegro has been unveiled. Now in the final design stages, and due to begin construction in March, the grand scale development features a mooring area designed in the style of a coastal village, an 18‐hole golf course, eight hotels and several hundred residential units.

Lustica Bay Marina, a joint investment of Orascom Development (OMM) and the government of Montenegro, is scheduled for completion of its first phase by the end of 2015.

The marina will be surrounded by 295km of coastline featuring 72km of sandy beaches, many accessible by yacht.

Superyacht berths will accommodate yachts up to 60m at a total of 170 berths. The marina village will be situated on dramatic slopes that rise nearly 100m above the rocky shoreline. Modern technical facilities will be provided including dockside water and electricity supply and fuel services.

Lustica Bay will be surrounded by the picturesque bays and hills of Montenegro

As well as the marina village there will be a secondary mooring area in the style of a traditional coastal village. It will accommodate 50 berths and provide water taxi access to the main marina village.

Villas and apartment units are envisaged for Lustica Bay

When completed the resort will include over 1700 residential units, villas, townhome units and apartment units, 8 hotels with 1260 rooms and suites, thalasso center, 18‐hole golf course, conference center, primary school and medical facilities.

Commenting on the substantial project ahead, Orascom Marine Management's MD Philip Jones said:

“As a marina developer, we see Lustica Bay Marina as a next step in investing in the marina sector of Montenegro. Lustica Bay is the ideal starting point for a cruise of the magnificent islands of the Dalmatian coast, which according to National Geographic magazine is the world’s number one sailing destination.

"Further, despite the current financial climate, superyacht projects are progressing and it is considered that superyacht fleet has doubled over the last decade and Lustica Bay Marina is designed to cater for yachts up to 60m,“ he concluded.
