'No intention' of sending yacht work to Wolgast says Lürssen
After assuming operational control of its most recently acquired shipyard, Peene Werft, on 1 May Lürssen has confirmed to SuperyachtNews.com that it has no intention of moving any superyacht work to the yard.…
Lürssen’s PR & marketing manager, Sylke Auf Dem Graben said that Peene Werft will “primarily be used as a refit yard.” Auf Dem Graben said the yard had recently received an order to produce two bows for naval frigates so that work could begin again. But there was no intention to send any of Lürssen’s superyacht projects to the yard to boost capacity.
Lürssen pipped yachtbuilding compatriot, Nobiskrug, which was bidding under the banner of its parent company Abu Dhabi MAR, to the purchase of Peene Werft in December 2012, prompting speculation that it may be destined for superyacht building activity.
