Oceanco's project Y708 features interior design by Alberto Pinto.

Internationally renowned designer Alberto Pinto passed away late on Sunday night, according to sources close to him, after a 42-year-long career. Having worked on the interiors of an impressive list of luxury residences, private jets and palaces, Pinto is also well known for his striking interiors on superyachts such as Alfa Nero, Dilbar, Ocean Victory and most recently the interior for Oceanco’s most heavily guarded project Y708.

Born in Casablanca in 1945 to Argentine parents of French and Italian descent, Pinto attended the Ecole de Louvre, tried his hand as a photographer in New York for a brief period and then returned to Paris, where he set up office in the 17th-century Place des Victoires.

His style has always been known for incorporating influences from various historical periods and cultures. As well as interiors, he collaborated on furniture and fittings with the likes of Raynaud, Pierre Frey, THG, Ecruis, and D. Porthault.

Pinto’s sister and longtime collaborator, Linda Pinto, will take over the direction of the designer’s namesake studio.
