ICON yachts display 85m motoryacht concept at Monaco

Dutch yard, ICON yachts will display designs for its new 85m motoryacht concept at Monaco 2011.  The concept follows on from its 50m platform previously exhibited at Monaco 2010, which has already yielded three new projects with clients.
 
For the 85m, ICON approached H2 Yacht Design to develop the concept, whilst Laurent Giles Superyacht Architects was commissioned to provide the initial technical input required to start a new platform design.

Speaking on the impetus behind the project Stephan Vitus from Project Development at ICON, said: "We had such good feedback on the 50m it inspired us to launch the 85m."  H2 Yacht Design were chosen because Vitus felt the London-based design team represents the, "leading edge of design."

Whilst not confirming a new owner at this early stage, Vitus was extremely positive about interest received.   He said:

"We’re very excited about launching this project.  We’ve already given some sneak previews and got a couple of leads out of it.  We have the GA (general arrangement) finalised and some variations to cater and show as many options as possible."

The 85m is compliant with the latest MCA Passenger Yacht Code to accommodate 18-20 guests.  An LY2 / 12 passenger layout suited towards larger owner’s accommodation is also available. With the proposed diesel electric power plant the hull will have a max speed of over 19 knots with a cruising range of 6000 nautical miles.
 
The exterior styling evokes a pure, uncluttered linear design style.  Sharp edges contrast with the flowing organic form of the superstructure.
 
Her interior features include a centrally located tender garages, a beach club arrangement, central pool, spa and gym facilities.
