D-Marin adds four Greek marinas to portfolio
Partnership deals with two leading Greek companies will give D-Marin co-management of three marinas in Greece as well as a fourth, Zea marina in Piraeus, which has over 100 berths for superyachts.…
In two partnership deals including one with MedMarinas S.A., Greece’s largest chain of marinas; the services giant has added Lefkas, Zea marina and Flisvos marina in Greece and Gouvia in Corfu, to its marinas in the Eastern Med.
The coup will result in an extra 479 superyacht berths to its current capacity, which includes marinas in strategic locations in Croatia and Turkey.
“At Doğuş Group the marina industry is very dear to us and we are striving by the day in this industry to add value to our business," said Group CEO Hüsnü Akhan.
"We are greatly proud to be spreading D-Marin’s quality and standards across the Eastern Mediterranean Basin and Adriatic Sea and flying the Turkish flag in international waters,”
The MedMarinas S.A deal gives D-Marin co-management of three marinas: Corfu, Lefkas and Zea marina in the ancient harbour of Piraeus, following acquisition of 51% of MedMarinas S.A, owned by the Kiriacoulis Group.
The second deal is a 50%-50% partnership with Lamda Development SA, listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, resulting in D-Marin’s control of Flisvos Marina.
“D-Marin Marinas Group owns the largest international chain of marinas in the Eastern Mediterranean Basin and Adriatic Sea,” said Akhan in the statement, which added D-Marin intends to be a ‘regional powerhouse’ in the Eastern Mediterranean basin and Adriatic Sea.
The investment into Greece’s marinas is an indication plans, revealed by the country’s government at the end of 2012 to encourage investment in five star marinas and services in Greece, are rapidly coming to fruition. D-Marin’s addition of four marinas follow’s Camper & Nicholson’s multi-year service agreement for Ermioni Marina, Greece, signed in November last year.
D-Marin also revealed a new project in Turkey would begin construction by the end of 2013. Dalaman marina located close to Göcek in the picturesque corner of south western Turkey will be ten minutes from the airport, offering yacht owners “the comfort of accessing their yachts in a mere 10 minutes after getting off the plane,” said Akhan.
