Swedish company Bolon have been awarded the Good Green Design 2010 award for their environmentally friendly flooring collection Botanic.

Awarding the world’s leading sustainable green design, the Good Green Design award is a part of the Good Design award, which was founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and Edgar Kaumann. It is the oldest and one of the most prestigious design awards in the world and rewards the most innovative design approach for new products, buildings and environments that focus on the idea of repairing our world with sustainable and environmental alternatives.

Awarded for promoting a more healthy and sustainable environment, the Botanic flooring collection is a revolutionary breakthrough in woven vinyl flooring with environmental care. Botanic contains a new plasticiser, which consist of 100 per cent renewable raw material, coming from the plant kingdom. Bolon is the first flooring enterprise in the world to switch to using plasticisers. According to Bolon, who have installed floors on the likes of Giorgio Armani's yacht Main, its goal is to one day use plasticisers in all the products in its entire range. Although the collection is inspired by nature's diversity, the Botanic collection is also a tribute to the natural world’s beautiful simplicity and resourceful efficiency, and is available in ten distinctive patterns.
