MONACO. During the 2012 Monaco Boat Show, Benetti, a division of the Azimut Benetti Group, announced a new design project called Design Innovation, in which 16 studios were invited to share their interpretation of the future of Benetti yachts.
“Evolving the design, style and family-feeling of Benetti yachts, which has developed over the past 140 years is as an ambitious task,” explained the CEO of the Megayachts Business Unit at Benetti, Vincenzo Poerio. “But as tireless devotees of novelty, evolution and challenge, we had no alternative. Then again, looking ahead and anticipating the market has always been encoded in Benetti’s DNA. This is why we have decided to assign this challenge to the world’s most reputed yacht designers.”
The design brief put to the esteemed group of designers was to develop new concepts based on existing Benetti design platforms, ranging from 50m up to, and beyond, 90m.
Among those who have taken part in the project include Bannenberg & Rowell, Axis – Horacio Bozzo Design, Marco Casali, Cor D Rover, Luiz de Basto, Luca Dini Design, Eidsgaard Design, Cristiano Gatto, Evan K Marshall, Studio Massari, Nauta Design, Neo Design, Prima Design, PS+A Palomba Serafini, Quarto Stile, Too Design and Design Studio Spadolini.
