The international regatta circuit is packed full with events to keep the avid superyacht sailor busy all year. The Superyacht Owner looks ahead at 2015 circuit and highlights the dates for your diary, wherever in the world you may be.
New Zealand Millennium Cup, Auckland - 21 to 23 January 2015
Running concurrently with New Zealand’s biggest domestic regatta; Bay of Islands Sailing Week, delivering an unbeatable atmosphere of camaraderie to overseas guests. Returning to the race this year are Janice of Wyoming, Bliss and Silvertip, all veterans of the race who’ve experienced first hand the New Zealand Millennium Cup experience and who are looking forward to battling it out once more for supremacy. Entries to date also include 50m Perini Navi, Silencio and 34.2m Royal Huisman, Sassafras.
St Barths Bucket, St Barths - 19 to 22 March 2015
One of the most celebrated superyacht regattas, the St Barths Bucket returns next year under the new stewardship of Perini Navi, Royal Huisman, Vitters and Rybovich. “As the new custodians of the St Barths and Newport Bucket regattas, we cannot emphasise enough that our sole objective in taking this initiative is to ensure that the special character of the Bucket is preserved for owners, their guests and crew, now and well into the future,” the new selection of owners have said in a statement. “The Bucket will continue to be an opportunity for great racing in great venues, where socialising and networking, rather than sales and marketing, will set the tone for the industry professionals who participate.” What helps make the St Barths Bucket so special is its motto "the spirit of the Bucket", which ensures that every year, new participants and Bucket veterans, brand new giants and smaller vintages, all feel welcome and part of the Bucket family. Dubois Cup, Porto Cervo - 28 to 30 May 2015
The inaugural Dubois Cup took place in Palma in 2007 following a conversation between Ed Dubois and a client who suggested the idea of a regatta solely for Dubois yachts. The idea grew and the Dubois Cup was established - an opportunity for owners to enjoy their boats, to put them through their paces and to meet other Dubois owners and friends. The last three editions of the Dubois Cup took place in 2009, 2011 and 2013 at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardinia and the 2015 edition again held at and organised in conjunction with the YCCS. The Superyacht Cup, Palma - 17 to 20 June 2015
Perini Navi Cup, Porto Cervo - 2 to 5 September 2015
The Perini Navi Cup is a regatta dedicated exclusively to Perini yachts that, for a few intense days, gather to challenge each other in the Mediterranean Sea. It has continued to be an event that succeeds in uniting competition and social life in a balanced manner. This is a formula that, after five editions, has attained full maturity and now catalyses the attention of an audience comprised not just of experts in the field. Involvement on a wide scale that has one common denominator: the passion for sailing.
The perfect backdrop for a classic sailing yacht regatta, St Tropez has been hosting Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez for 30 years. Originally known as La Nioulargue, the annual rendezvous of traditional and modern sailing yachts is held in the bay of St Tropez each autumn. The event was first ceated in 1981 when an owner and skipper of two classic yachts raced each other from the foot of the village of St Tropez around the Nioulargo to arrive opposite Club 56 on Pampelonne beach. Today it has become a stunning event for owners to enjoy the power and performance of over 300 sailing yachts in every size, shape and era racing across seven days.

New to the regatta calendar in 2014, the Ibiza Rendezvous has confirmed a second edition after the first was lauded a huge success and marked a return to the ‘fun’ days of relaxed regatta racing. “When we started The Superyacht Cup 18 years ago, it used to be an end-of-season regatta where anyone who wanted to come along could, and it was not too professional,” says Spike Thompson, event director and founder of The Superyacht Cup in Palma. “With the Ibiza Rendezvous we want to go back to the roots, like the old days of The Superyacht Cup. There are a lot of superyacht events but I think that there is a real space in the market for this format.”The Superyacht Owner looks forward to seeing you on the 2015 regatta circuit!
