From David Attenborough’s urgent call to arms in the form of the BBC documentary Climate Change – The Facts to the worldwide demonstrations calling for more action on climate change, the international emergency that is facing the next generation has been brought into stark contrast. There is no longer time to procrastinate; global action is required.
The superyacht industry is not immune from this process, and the need to act has catalysed the formation of the Water Revolution initiative, which is playing a leading role in ensuring our industry makes a difference.
The issue of making vessels more sustainable and reducing ocean pollution are at the forefront of many business models being pitched to the market at the moment. This is not just about reducing our industry’s footprint, but identifying the technologies of tomorrow that improve the efficiency and performance of operation, because they are environmentally friendly.
The Superyacht Group has teamed up with the Water Revolution Foundation to spearhead this mission. And in order to do so, we are conducting a survey focusing on superyacht sustainability.
We are asking stakeholders from across the industry spectrum for their opinions on sustainability within yachting and whether it is a priority. We are also inviting those involved in sustainability initiatives to make us aware of them, so that we can help to publicise these invaluable works.
