Westport, the US-based shipyard, has recently launched the first vessel of its latest W125 production range. M/Y Black Gold, as she is currently known, is a 38m raised pilot house powered by two twin 2,600hp MTU diesel engines and has a top speed of around 20 knots.

“Launching a new yacht is always an exciting achievement for the entire Westport family,” comment Alex Rogers, Westport’s director of sales. “This particular launch makes us feel very proud because it is the new flagship in the series and our most advanced yacht built to date.”

Black Gold is built of composite fibreglass and accommodates 10 guests across one forward full-width master stateroom and four en suite guest rooms. The guest rooms are available as queens or twins. Private crew quarters are found forward on the lower deck.

She is currently undergoing extensive sea trials, following which she will be delivered to her owner and make her way south to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 3-7 November.
