Turquoise 77m enters next stage of construction

Having been under construction since 2014, Turquoise Yachts has announced that 77m hull NB63, or Project Victory, has recently been transferred to the shipyard’s second facility in Pandik, Istanbul for final outfitting. The yacht, which was sold in September 2016 to a European client, marks an important milestone for the Turkish shipyard as the largest yacht built to date.
However, soon after the launch of Project Victory, which is planned to take place in 12 months’ time, two larger superyachts (Project Vitruvius and Project Shark), which are currently under construction at Turquoise, are scheduled for delivery. The average LOA of the yachts under construction at the yard is 70.8m, a considerable jump from the yard’s historical figures, which, for the last 10 years, have been just over 50m.
With all mechanical installations and rough joinery work in place, interior outfitting, paint application and other finishing touches will now take place in Pandik. Having been fully designed by London-based studio H2 Yacht Design, as the shipyard points out, the yacht bears a resemblance to 72m motoryacht Vicky, delivered in 2012 – also designed by H2 Yacht Design. However, a number of developments have been made to evolve the design into something new and different.
From a design perspective, the yacht’s profile is an interesting development of Turquoise’s style. In comparison to Vicky, the lines are well defined and the profile is much less ‘busy’ – just a few curves in the superstructure allow for a simplistic yet stylish appearance. This somewhat refreshing development of the shipyard’s style has also been translated into 81m Project Vitruvius, which is under construction and scheduled for a 2018 delivery.
While Turquoise Yachts appears to be taking a very modern stylistic development, the shipyard is still demonstrating its diverse portfolio with its classical 56m explorer, which is currently under construction at the shipyard and scheduled for a 2019 delivery.
