March was a fairly quiet month for superyacht launches, which included the 47m Loretta Anne from Alloy Yachts and the 77m Smeralda from Hanseatic Marine. What March lacked in launch numbers, however, was made up for by a multitude of other fleet activity, including the welcome announcement of various new orders...…

What March lacked in launch numbers, however, was made up for by a multitude of other fleet activity, including the welcome announcement of various new orders.

Launch News

Aslec 4 - RossiNavi launched the 45m vessel, Aslec 4 from the Lusben shipyard in Viareggio. The superyacht features a Tommaso Spadolini exterior and a Remi Tessier interior. Read more here.



Loretta Anne - Alloy Yachts launched 47m Loretta Anne (AY43) from their Henderson facility. Built for a repeat owner, Loretta Anne is the 12th motoryacht built by the yard, and the largest to date. Read more here.



Mangusta 165/07 - The Overmarine Group launched the latest Mangusta 165 hull number 7 on March 30th in Viareggio. 2012 is the 5th anniversary of the Mangust 165 model, with seven yachts in the series launched to date. Read more here.



Smeralda - The spectacular 77 metre superyacht Smeralda was successfully launched on schedule on 17 March 2012 by her builder Hanseatic Marine. Smeralda is the third yacht in the Silver series by Espen Oeino, and is the largest aluminium yacht in the world. Read more here.



South China Sea Welkin - Ferretti Group's Custom Line has launched the 34m superyacht South China Sea Welkin, following the Group’s acquisition by China-based SHIG-Weichai Group at the start of this year. Read more here.



Vicem 107 - Turkish yard Vicem Yachts launched their first Vicem 107 superyacht, the yard's Flagship Vintage model. The 107 Cruiser is the latest in Vicem’s series of Classic, Flybridge and Cruiser motor yachts ranging from 50 – 100 feet. Read more here.



Fleet News

In other fleet news, Italian shipyard Palumbo, has announced a signed contact for the construction of a new 40m motoryacht, the Columbus Sport 130’ Hybrid [click here to read]. ISA has announced a new order for a 43m yacht in its Granturismo range [click here to read]. UK shipyard Spirit Yachts is collaborating with Sparkman & Stephens to build a 42.4m J-Class superyacht [click here to read].

Sunseeker has begun building its largest motoryacht to date, the 47m Sunseeker 155, in response to positive feedback received from the market on its 40m yacht and the Predator 130 [click here to read]. Bilgin Yachts has two of its 49m yacht model under construction [click here to read] Amels is set for the busiest period in the Dutch shipyard's history, with 12 new build projects underway and the upcoming delivery of three builds and two extensive refits [click here to read].

The 48m Rossinavi motoryacht under construction, Ketos, has left the Rossinavi shipyard in Pisa and has been sea-towed to Viareggio where her outfitting will be completed prior to her 2013 delivery [click here to read]. Meanwhile, the first 60m Perini Navi sailing hull arrived at the Italian yard where work will continue [click here to read].

The 42.5m trimaran superyacht Adastra is close to completion at McConaghy Boats' China factory. Her launch is expected in April [click here to read]. 58m Egeria from Turkish yard Egeria Yachts is also nearing her launch: the superyacht is for sale and is due to launch in May [click here to read].

Couach gave a sneak preview of their new 50m yacht, La Pellegrina, in advance of her April launch [click here to read]. Imperial Princess, the largest vessel built by UK-based Princess Yachts, also underwent sea trials prior to her April launch [click here to read]. The 85m Ace, launched by Lurssen in January has successfully completed sea trials [click here to read]. Having also completed sea trials and finishing work, 96m Vava II set sail from Plymouth on her maiden voyage [click here to read]

Refit News

The 75.2m sailing yacht M5, known previously as Mirabella V, arrived at Pendennis Plus, Falmouth, for a major one-year refit [click here to read]. This news followed the completion of a four month refit of the 62.2m Virginian at the yard [click here to read].

47m superyacht Aquamarina relaunched on March 22 after completion of a six month refit at Rivergate Marina in Australia [click here to read]. The 88.48m Cassens Werft build, Lauren L was the first yacht to visit the Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka, where she underwent her 10-year survey [click here to read].

Rybovich unstepped the masts of 56m Perini Navi Rosehearty as part of her refit [click here to read]. Monaco Marine announced a full house, with 16 superyachts in for refit [click here to read]. Royal Huisman also sent news that Huisfit refits, 40m Be Mine and 90m Eos are nearing completion [click here to read].
