2011 saw plenty of superyacht activity with 162 launches and 172 deliveries taking place. Following suit, 2012 has gotten off to an extremely busy start with many significant launches and deliveries already having taken place. 2011 saw plenty of superyacht activity with 162 launches and 172 deliveries taking place. Following suit, 2012 has gotten off to an extremely busy start with many significant launches and deliveries already having taken place. Four yachts of 60m were launched in January: the biggest the 86.5m ACE from Lurssen.

ACE
– The 86.5m ACE (formerly Project Rocky) launched from German yard Lürssen on 9 January. She has ample and 'immaculate' interior space for luxurious cruising with six staterooms for 12 guests. ACE is for the owner’s private use and at present she is not being considered for charter. Read more here.



Drizzle - Feadship has launched the 67.27m (220’8”) Drizzle at the Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw yard in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. She has been built for experienced owners who were inspired by the 2005 Feadship Twizzle, of which they were the second owners and had renamed Drizzle. Read more here.



EP148 - Horizon Yachts, Taiwan, has launched the EP148 expedition superyacht into the Horizon marina testing field for sea trials. Launched on 12 January the 45.1m superyacht is undergoing tests and sea trials around Taiwan. The vessel is Horizon’s first yacht to be built in steel and its first yacht with BV Ice Classification. Lady L - Heesen has announced the launch of YN 15944, formerly 'Project Zentric', at the yard’s Oss facility in Holland. The motoryacht was christened Lady L at her launch on 13 January. Lady L is the eighth in Heesen’s 44m all-aluminium class since the line began in 2007 with M/Y Sedation. Read more here.

Megaway 128 - Megaway Engineering & Trading Pte. Ltd. launched its first superyacht at Megaway Engineering in Tuas, Singapore on 27 December 2011. The tri-deck superyacht, Megaway 128, measures 39m, is built to Bureau Veritas (BV) Class, and has two MTU engines. She has a range of 3,000nnm at 18 knots, and 5,000nm at 15 knots. Project Niki
- On 17 January 2012, Lürssen Yachts launched 85.1m Project 'Niki' via a slipway. The launch came shortly the launch of the 86.5m ACE. The motoryacht still has quite a way to go in the build process, and though launched this month, her delivery is not expected until next year, in Summer 2013. Read more here.



Serenity - On January 25, Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts announced it had delivered its largest displacement vessel to date, the 55m motoryacht Serenity. The vessel was launched in December 2011 in Oss, the Netherlands, and since has been vigorously tested in the waters of the North Sea. Read more here.

Tsumat - In early January 2012, Trinity Yachts launched the 50m (164ft) M/Y Tsumat (T-057), which will be delivered later in the year. Tsumat is the work of a design team of Trinity Yachts, Geoff Van Aller, J C Espinosa and Ramon Alonso. Running on 2 x CAT engines (3516B II-HD @3384) Tsumat will cruise at 21 knots with a maximum speed of 22.5 knots. Read more here.
