Superyacht Fleet Overview and Launches in October 2013

With the industry in full show season, it was a quiet month for superyacht launches, with 82m Project Graceful from Blohm + Voss and 91.5m Y709 from Oceanco being the notable exception. By contrast, with the winter months upon us there has been an influx of refit news, including the restepping of M5’s mast at Pendennis.

New Launches

Graceful - The 82m superyacht, codenamed Project Graceful was launched from the Blohm +Voss Repair facility in Hamburg. The vessel is the first launched by Blohm + Voss since Palladium in March 2010. Read more here.



PA164 – Oceanco has launched 91.5m Hull Y709, which features naval architecture by Azure Naval Architects and an interior by Andrew Winch Designs.

Fleet News

New Orders


BSD 105 RS - Italian brokerage house Whyko Company has signed an order for a new 32.25m build at Benetti Sail Division. The yacht is being built for an owner who intends to use her to travel the world. Delivery is scheduled for Spring 2014. Read more here.

Filante 42 - Camper & Nicholsons Yachts have signed an agreement with ISA Yachts for the construction of their new Filante 42 superyacht. Read more here.

Progress Reports

C.2227 - The hull of Perini Navi’s 70m ketch C.2227 has arrived at Picchiotti's La Spezia facility to begin the next phase of her construction. The vessel, which will be the second largest sailing yacht in the Perini Navi fleet upon completion, is due to be launched in 2015. Read more here.

Deliveries

Freedom
- IAG Yachts are preparing to deliver their second IAG Electra model, 31.7m Freedom. Built for a Malaysian client, the yacht was launched on 19 August. Read more here.

I-Nova - Greek yard Cosmo Explorer launched 50m ice-class explorer yacht I-Nova earlier this year. Designed by Cristiano Gatto, the yard and design team have released new information and images on this new launch. Read more here.

Refits

57m Swiftships – Burgess Marine Porchester has secured a substantial refit contract for a 57m all aluminium Swiftships. Works will include mechanical, electrical and paint works and a major interior overhaul over an 8 to 9 month period. Read more here.

Inmocean
- 41m S/Y Inmocean is undergoing refit work at Oceania Marine in New Zealand. Built by Fitzroy Yachts in 2008 the yacht is undergoing refit work including a full repaint and interior refresh. Read more here.

M5 mast restepped - M5, currently the largest single-masted sailing yacht in the world, is undergoing a major refit and remodel, which has just reached a significant milestone with the restepping of the mast. Read more here.

Princess Too - Icon Yachts is to undertake a major refit on 48m Feadship-built Princess Too. Work will include a full repaint as well as re-caulking of the teak deck. Read more here.

Rybovich
- Rybovich busy with refits on yachts including Laurel and Seanna. Read more here.

San Diego refit surge - Within weeks of the final America’s Cup race, won by U.S. Team Oracle, California shipyards Marine Group and Fifth Ave Landing welcomed over a dozen superyachts from San Francisco. Read more here.

The Big Blue - Derecktor have completed a fifteen month major refit on 43.2m explorer yacht The Big Blue. The yard is also busy with other refit projects on yachts including The Highlander. Read more here.

Yard News

New Amico Graving Dock - Amico & Co is investing in a new €5.6 million graving drydock, due for completion in 2014, to meet growing demand for refit work of large yachts. The new drydock will allow the company to better service yachts of up to 102m. Read more here.

1 – 14 October – seven sales completed, 20 new central agencies announced, and 10 price reductions made and one yacht withdrawn from the market. Read more here.
