'Soraya 46' will launch in August

The first yacht in the Soraya 46 series is set to launch this August before her Monaco Yacht Show debut.…

The first flagship of Soraya Yachts, Soraya 46, is reported to be ready for launch in August this year.

It is a protracted launch, with its builders, Gentech Ltd, announcing in 2012 that she would be ready for March and then May of that year.

But the 46m motoryacht has now been moved to a new shed at the Antalya production unit for finalization, ready for an early August launch.

Surveyors Zucker & Partner are working with Nassif Hamati, manager of the Turkey unit, to ensure the highest quality of the build.

Designed and built in compliance with RINA charter class and MCA standards, Soraya 46 can accommodate ten passengers in five cabins and nine crew. The steel and aluminium yacht has a trans-oceanic range of up to 5,000 nautical miles powered under her Caterpillar engines. She has a maximum speed of 16 knots.

She has a multi-functional layout allowing both privacy and socialising in ‘expansive' social areas, with crew operational paths and accommodations separated from guest facilities.

The interior exudes ‘timeless elegance and sophistication’, while expansive outer decks are enhanced with full colour LED illumination. She features noise and vibration control with zero-speed stabilizers for optimum peace and quiet on board.

Her builders at Gentech - part of a group of companies operating in diverse fields including aviation, engineering and project management - has developed a new, integrated communication control system, SICCS, based on latest IP platform technology. SICCS is being tested and will be available for other superyachts.

A single integrated LON network connects all elements of yacht systems, machinery, equipment, comfort controls, entertainment and communication units into a single, user-friendly monitoring and control system. All yacht systems are supervised on the glass bridge with avionics-styled 29 inch displays, and are accessible by authorized computers from selected locations on board and ashore.

Ka band enables up to 20 Mb high-speed satellite connection with fixed monthly rate, and allows a non-stop internet connectivity and use of IP TV and Phone over IP to the owner, guests and the crew.  Guests can control the interior comfort settings with smart phones, PCs or through a Cisco IP phone that is installed in each cabin.

Unusual for a yacht of her volume, Soraya 46 is equipped with a helipad, which her builders say is unique for a superyacht under 500GT.

Soraya 46, the first of the 46m line, is scheduled to make her debut at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show in September.
