Perini Navi launches S/Y 'Seven'

The 60m aluminium ketch is the first new launch for the Viareggio builder since 38m 'Dahlak' and 70m 'Sybaris' last year…

A collaboration between the Perini Navi design team and naval architect Ron Holland, the interior design of S/Y Seven (C.2232) is by Italian architects Dante O. Benini & Partners. She is the 62nd Perini Navi yacht to be built and the third in its 60m series that includes S/Y Seahawk and S/Y Perseus^3. The launch and christening ceremony took place at Perini Navi’s headquarters in Viareggio in the presence of the owners, their family and guests, as well as Perini Navi’s shareholders, employees and suppliers.

Resold in June 2015 after the original client pulled out, the new ketch is the first launch since Lamberto Tacoli was appointed CEO and chairman of Perini Navi, and equity investor Edoardo Tabacchi joined the company as deputy chairman alongside Fabio Boschi. Perini Navi has been restructuring on a strategic and organisational level in a challenging market. Tabucchi's capital injection of €27 million allows the group, which includes the Picchiotti brand, to invest in maintaining its historical status and leadership in both the power and sailing superyacht segments.

“The realisation of this project represents an important achievement for the shipyard, in which we worked in close synergy with the owners,” says Tacoli. “This is also the first launch since Perini Navi entered into the partnership agreement with the Tabacchi family and is testament to how the company has kept its core values intact, while at the same time strengthening the brand's position as a world leader in Italian excellence.”

There are currently no new Perini Navi sailing yachts in build or on order, but in March the group announced the sale of two Picchiotti motoryacht projects in the same week: a 52m steel-hulled motoryacht and an all-aluminium ‘top secret’ prototype conceived by the Perini Navi Innovation Centre in Viareggio.

"The conclusion of two sales contracts is an important confirmation of the efficacy of our chosen path, focusing on our products and our distinctive quality," commented Fabio Boschi at the time.

S/Y Seven will make her international debut at the Monaco Yacht Show from 27-30 September.
