'Helios' returns home for refit

The 45.3m sloop 'Helios' has left Perini Navi after returning to the yard where she was built for a refit.…

Perini Navi’s 2007 sloop, Helios has left its Service and Refit division in Viareggio. The 45.3m vessel underwent tuning and repainting of her mast and rigging, which led to “several improvements”, according to her captain, Raymond Wroe-Street, who also managed the project.

“The refit team, led by the very capable Elena Piendibene undertook the project with a time line that saw Helios planning to spend the winter in the yard”, Wroe-Street explained. “True to form, our timeline changed and it became necessary to speed up the completion date up by several months.”

Wroe-Street praised the yard for its timekeeping and budgetary controls. “I can honestly say that they are one of the best shipyards that I have had the pleasure of dealing with during a refit project”, he continued.

“I would highly recommend Perini as a shipyard to undertake any form of refit or rebuild. They have a comprehensive list of suppliers and vendors that can undertake any type of repair or refit on any type of vessel, be it motor or sail.”
