Dutch builder ICON Yachts has announced the delivery of their flagship yacht, 62.5m Maidelle to her owner.
Despite waves, heavy snowfall and strong winds besieging the coast of Norway where she set on her maiden voyage just before Christmas, she ‘majestically stood through [these] and held her fort’ testified the reports from ICON.
Commenting on the yacht’s performance during her first outing, Captain Donald Heath said he was, “very pleased”:
“She behaved very well on delivery in some pretty awful weather, and generally gave the impression of being a solid and safe sea boat.”
“I am very pleased with the performance of the Maidelle, especially from an engineering perspective. The boat is very easy to handle and sails perfectly,” he added.
Maidelle was designed by Redman Whitely Dixon with interiors by Cristiano Gatto Design. She features a 17 metres long main saloon, ample indoor/outdoor space on the maindeck level, beach club with gym and sauna. The Owner’s cabin is divided in two decks with a direct link to a panoramic saloon for family privacy.
Heath had praise for her builders too, saying that:
“Icon hit the ground running, and it’s plain to see that the company philosophy is to compete with the best of Northern European build quality, and by and large that is what they have succeeded in doing.”
Maidelle will remain in the Mediterranean for the foreseeable future.
