Heesen launch 55m 'Azamanta'
Heesen have launched their first fast displacement steel hull, over 50m, christened 'Azamata'.…
Heesen announced the launch of 55m YN 17255 on the May 1 at their facility in Oss. She is the yards first Fast Displacement steel-hulled yacht over 50m, now christened Azamanta.
The yacht was developed in collaboration with the Heesen in house team and Van Oossanen Naval Architects. She will reach a remarkable maximum speed of 16.5 knots with a range of 4,500nm at a cruising speed of 13 knots. This pioneering vessel shows outstanding efficiency, propelling approximately 600 tonnes of steel and aluminum with only 600kW of power.
The bold exterior lines are designed by Omega Architects and include vertical windows and numerous glass insertions in the bulwarks to allow more natural light to flood the interior. Omega's design has been engineered and completed by Heesen’s in-house experts; the superstructure aft, for example, is completely free from pillars, offering uninterrupted views of the sea.
Azamanta will be intensively tested in the North Sea and is due to be delivered to her owners in July 2015
