'Galatea' edges 30 knots on sea trials

The recently launched Heesen sportster, 'Galatea' has exceeded her contractual speed whilst on sea trials.…

Heesen’s latest launch, the 40m ‘sportster’ Galatea has completed her sea trials in Hellevoetsluis in the western Netherlands. And according to the yard, she has exceeded her contractual speed by 2.2 knots, recording a top speed of 29.7 knots. This has been achieved, in part, via her 2,834kW MTU engines.

A Heesen statement praised the ‘new breed’ of superyacht:

She derives from the very successful 37-metre class, of which 10 have been built, so her pedigree is clearly excellent. With her perfectly designed all-aluminium semi-displacement hull, Galatea is the incarnation of Heesen DNA: powerful performance, uncompromising interior design and peerless Dutch construction.

Galatea will be delivered to her owner at the end of March.
