Fit for purpose
Benetti's 'Cheers 46', premiered at FLIBS, features an enormous gym on what would have been the owner's deck. It is a nod to a new generation of experience-focused owner.…
SuperyachtNews.com was on hand at FLIBS to see first-hand, one of the most unique arrangements ever seen on a semi-custom superyacht, with the debut of Benetti’s Cheers 46.
Cheers 46 is the first hull to be launched in Benetti’s Veloce 140’ range, explained CEO Vincenzo Poerio at the FLIBS press conference, with a further four commissioned since, and four more of the 125’ sister platform also in the order book.
Purchased by two brothers, who act as co-owners and have upgraded to their first Benetti from am Azimut Grande 116, in the words of her captain, Kelly Esser, “she appeals to the younger generation.”
And this is where her layout comes into play. The size of the master suite has been significantly reduced, and is located on the lower deck alongside two double suites and two guest suites.
This is to make way for the largest gym SuperyachtNews.com has ever seen on board a yacht, which as Esser explained, predominates what was recommended as the owner’s deck by Benetti’s design team. The reduced size of the master suite is also an egalitarian approach to accommodating guests, which again is indicative of a new generation of yacht owner fixated on the experience itself.
Because of the design overhaul Esser said the yacht had surpassed its 21-knot contracted speed, reaching an impressive top speed of 26 knots.
And coupled with the shallow draft and two-year delivery time, explained CCO Fabio Ermetto, the series is “attracting lots of interested clients”.

The global theme of the al fresco dining table is indicative of the yacht's experiential focus.
