AB Yachts (FIPA Group) has completed the latest in its 36.2m AB116 line. The yacht launched on 28 August, before making her way to Cannes where she will make her debut.
Built from lightweight materials, the newly launched AB116 has a hull and superstructure in two different tones of grey and has a generous volume and interior spaces. Powered by three MTU 16V2000M94 engines, coupled by 3MJP waterjet she has been built to navigate comfortably at high speed, and can reach speeds of 55 knots, and cruises at 44 knots.
Inside the yacht, white and grey colours dominate, creating an elegant continuity between exterior and interior. The floors are made of hand-planed larch essence which is complemented by white wood furniture. The main salon - which is home to a dining table for 10 - was designed as a focal point for entertainment and relaxation, and is enhanced by a sliding roof.
According to the yard, the standout feature of the yacht is the second salon on the lower deck, where the windows of the main wheelhouse act as a lightwell, filling the area with natural light. Guest accommodation is located on the same deck, aft of the saloon. Accommodation consists of two twins, a VIP and a full beam master suite with lounge, en suite and sleeping area. Grass and fern designs are incorporated in all cabins, making for a beautiful contrast with the white lacquered furniture, carbon fibre fittings and the floor. Crew quarters - including crew cabins, crew mess and the galley - are located forward of the lower salon, and are finished to guest standard.
Huge attention to detail has also been applied to the outside areas: the teak-laid cockpit was designed to maximise space for relaxation and is home to a lounge-style space, with sofas and arm chairs. The foredeck features another user-friendly zone with a U-shaped sofa as well as a sunbathing area. Sofas and sunbathing areas are also present on the flybridge where the upper wheelhouse is located in the middle and another dining area with a fridge, icemaker and a barbecue located aft.
