CRN launches its first project of the year

We take a look at the yard's newest launch, 50m 'Latona', and its five-year delivery performance…

Italian shipyard CRN has announced the launch of its first project of the year M/Y Latona. At 50m, the project has been under construction since 2016, having been sold in June the previous year. Having been inspired by the shipyard’s Superconero range, the new 50m superyacht is the 69th yacht built by CRN and one of two deliveries scheduled for 2018.

According to The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2018: New Build, CRN is among the top ten highest performing shipyards in Italy, based on the cumulative LOA of its delivered vessels over last five years, which amounts to a total of 443.8m. Globally, CRN is ranked as the 16th most active new-build shipyard, based on its five-year cumulative LOA .

The new 50m project marks a successful collaboration between CRN’s engineering & interiors & design department and Zuccon International Project, the Italian design studio. This is not, however, the first time the companies have worked together, in fact, Studio Zuccon Project are responsible for the design of 25 of CRN’s 68 yachts, representing 36.2 per cent of the shipyard’s delivered fleet.

“Every launch is a reason for great pride for the shipyard”, stated CRN’s and Ferretti Group’s CEO Alberto Galassi. “This complex, magnificent, 50m construction, realises the desire of a selective and resolute owner, who has turned to the expertise and the ability of CRN to build his personal project, turning his vision into a magnificent vessel.”

Latona has been designed with large interior spaces and plenty of exterior space, which also includes further lounge areas on the forward deck. The yacht is distinctive with its bright colour scheme and the defining lines of the vessel flow well. The yacht’s low centre of gravity complements the profile, which looks well balanced overall.

There are a further two yachts under construction at the shipyard with a cumulative LOA of 140.7m. In addition to Latona, CRN has a 79m superyacht scheduled for delivery later this year, which upon completion will be the second largest superyacht built by the shipyard to date behind 80m Chopi Chopi, which was delivered in 2013.
