Construction is currently underway on the Columbus 45S Hybrid, which is being built on-spec at Palumbo’s Naples shipyard, and is listed for sale through central agent Ocean Independence.
The 45S is based on the Columbus Sport Hybrid 40M, which was launched in 2013, and features the same diesel-electric propulsion system that the Columbus team claims provides fuel savings of 30 per cent. This system combines two MTU 16V2000 M94 engines with two Siemens Ecoprop 100kW electric motors.
When she is launched in 2016, the vessel will accommodate 10 guests in five ensuite cabins.
