Special in-depth look at launch of 'Nono'
The 37m superyacht Nono, the first completed Admiral Impero RPH superyacht, has been launched. She follows the launch of Admiral Classique 35 Foam, Tecnomar Nadara 40 Low Profile and Admiral Regale 45 Flying Dragon.
SuperyachtNews.com spoke with Luca Dini about her exterior design, which he explained was akin to BMW’s 3 Series concept. He said that Nono “is the sporty version of the Impero series that I created some years ago for [Admiral Tecnomar]”, and it becomes, “one of the many yachts that are planned to form this new range in the years following.”
Admiral’s Cacos V stands at the root of the yacht’s design, with the idea being to “develop a sort of coupé version of the 40m Cacos V, which has received so much praise in the last year. Cacos V marked the origin of a new family of yachts”, Dini said, “so the inspiration behind the design of Nono was similar. But we have tried to give it a sportier feel.”
With a maximum speed of 19.5 knots she holds two CAT C32E 1417kW engines. Both naval architecture and build were undertaken by Admiral's in-house team and her interior by Admiral Centro Stile.
Dini went on to say that he “enjoyed the idea of having the chance to design a raised pilothouse yacht after not having done so for quite some time," and that his previous collaborations with Admiral on planing boats such as this have been successful, with Nono giving him the chance to reconnect with this tradition.
Dini revealed that some design choices "had a major impact on the usability of this yacht. The main example is given from the bow and stern: both of them are virtually vertical, and this allows you to have internal volumes that are significantly bigger than those you can find on other, similar boats.” This means that, “when on board of Cacos V or Nono one could easily be led to think these yachts are larger than they actually are. The semi-displacement yacht holds five guest and three crew cabins in her aluminum hull."
Dini told SuperyachtNews.com that the experience he had with Cacos V meant they had a “very good foundation to start from” and that “the design process of this new model was very simple and completely devoid of hitches along the way.
"It really was smooth sailing from beginning to end and I hope this may be a good omen now that Nono has been launched."
This follows on from Justin Ratcliffe's article on the gala event held at the Italian Sea Group's headquarters in Tuscany, where no less than six launches were presented.
