ZKG shoes

Matt Bridge of Doyle Sails New Zealand was recently on board S/Y Moonbird during a regatta in the Caribbean, where he wore ZKGs. Here he tells us why the shoes, that allow air and water in and out very quickly, are well suited to yacht crew.…

I just sailed my first few regattas sporting the ZKGs and I'm highly impressed. The traction is leaps and bounds above anything else I've worn. Even the vast expanses of highly polished paintwork and glass found on superyachts presented no problem for the super-grip soles.

The key difference from other shoes is the ZKGs’ grippy, soft and flexible rubber soles which instantly expel water on contact. They are non-marking too, which is essential for protecting top quality decks and bright work.

The colourful 'all-star' style uppers are designed to get wet with a light, perforated neoprene, which allows air in and water out very quickly. Also, once wet they can be simply 'wrung out' and will dry quickly, making ZKGs perfect for a whole range of watersports and superyacht toys too, and they are not out of place simply walking down the street.

Matt Bridge is not a crewmember, but used the shoes recently as the trimmer on board S/Y Moonbird in the Caribbean.
