The luxury of yachting harks back to an era of glamour, with St Tropez and Jackie O sunglasses springing to mind, we can look back fondly at these retro designs from a golden era. But what does the future hold?
The impact of yacht design goes further than size, shape and the number of decks on each vessel. The materials used, the richness of paint options and the toys devised to bring owners closer to the water are all evolving. Similarly marinas, ports and landscapes continue to evolve to be able to accommodate these marvels. Whatever your interest or investment, it would be criminal not to keep abreast of the trends.
On Tuesday 24 June, SuperyachtDESIGN Week delegates will be given the opportunity to explore the future of our industry and gain insight into the creations that will be lining the quaysides in years to come. This isn’t something to miss if you aim to be gracing the Riviera with your presence beyond 2014.
Will the growing number of outlandish designs bring an overwhelming desire for owners to appropriate vintage superyachts? Will yachts with heritage become the sought after status symbols or will futuristic projects be embraced? If we compare ourselves to the comparatively fast paced automobile market it is clear that UHNWIs want both!
