ITALY, Milan. This week welcomes the return of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile to the Fiera di Milano. Conceived in 1961 as a means of promoting Italian furniture the world over, iSaloni has continued to thrive and showcase the best of the international artisanal spirit. This year brings with it the usual mixture of intricate furniture design from the likes of Fendi Casa and Kettal, interspersed with the latest and greatest from the worlds of lighting, textiles and installations.
Attending the Milan furniture show is luxury Italian furniture brand Fendi Casa, which will present a collection distinguished by its unique combination of colours and lacquers. The Mercury Dresser and Bedside are a striking duo defined by their sculptural lines and Art Deco detail, both would look exquisite and very much at home onboard.
Once the remit of indoor furniture, the highest levels of comfort and luxury are now demanded and expected of outdoor collections, and this has never been truer than on deck. Catalonian furniture giant Kettal has launched the Kettal Boma collection. Designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec this collection satisfies the need for high performance outdoor furniture without sacrificing on comfort.
Running alongside the furniture show, Euroluce is as biennial exhibition of all things luxury lighting. On display this year is the Glass Collection by Italian lighting specialists Artemide. This collection includes a number of notable collaborations such as Incalmo by Carlotta de Bevilacqua & Fabio Zanola. Incalmo beautifully incorporates clear and matt glass to create subtle variations in light distribution.
The Salone Internationale del Mobile 2015, which runs from 14 – 19 Paril, promises to build on the success of previous years and will showcase the very best of a myriad of design disciplines.
