Italy-based ZANIN Luxury Coverings has been working on a number of new projects since completing work on Overmarine’s 50-metre Rush and has announced the success of its Ritmo lampshade. Made from natural Rainbow Abalone shell, several extra thin sheets of the mother of pearl feathers have been patched together to create the finished look. When the lamp is on, only a small amount of light penetrates through the shell feathers, creating an ambient glow.
“The lamp is a unique piece,” explains Lara Barzoni at ZANIN. “It can be made on demand and according to different customer needs. The degree of transparency of the mother of pearl can vary according to the quantity of light the customer wants to have. Furthermore, the shape and size of the lampshade can be different according to the customer's wishes.”
The base of the delicate tabletop lamp has a number of finishes including porcelain, aluminium, brass, carbon or wood.
