Northern Lights has unveiled its latest M944T3 EPA Tier III generator, with a power output of 40kW@ 1800RPM, with the company pitching it at the sailing yacht market.
The new genset brings full US EPA Tier III compliance at 635 fewer kilos and over 50 per cent less overall volume than a similarly equipped model of the previous Northern Lights generation.
Like all Northern Lights products, the M944T3 is based on bespoke individual components, including auxiliary windings for clean power production. The turbo-charged engine achieves high torque and smooth operation with direct fuel injection. This technology optimises engine efficiency, resulting in low exhaust emissions and superior fuel economy. The M944T3 can also be completely customised with numerous options and accessories to suit any use or application.
Speaking to SuperyachtNews.com, Northern Lights’ VP of sales and marketing, Colin Puckett said that, although the focus was predominantly sailing vessels, “This level of power in a small package is often perfect for use as a night set or harbour set [on motoryachts], when the on board power consumption is lessened.” “It is a bit small for motor yachts above 30m for main power…but this little technical marvel crosses many boundaries”, Puckett added.

A special decorative casing was commissioned for the M944T3's unveiling at the Miami International Boat Show.
